yeah, thats the one... i dont even usually like stephen king, but this series is different.. like an r-rated lord of the rings with guns instead of swords and post-apocalyptic deserts and cities instead of enchanted forests... you should try it, its addictive.. im just happy im so young that i got to read it all at once instead of waiting years between books
1. Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire- J.K.Rowling
2. Silverthorn-Reymont Feist
3. The Hobbit-Tolkien
4. Pride and Prejudice- Jane Austen
5.Eldest - Christofer Paolini
Awesome! I LOVE Eldest, best Inheritance book by FAR.
OK soooooo.... i'm a complete book junkie so it's hard to pick favourites, but I'll recommend some that i really love... in no particular order (actually 1-3 I like better than 4 and 5 I think, but in no particular order apart from that!)...
1 The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (whatever you do, DO NOT see the movie before you've read it.)*
2 The Millenium Trilogy (I'm counting them all as one) by Stieg Larsson*
3 The Pillars of the Earth/World Without End by Ken Follett*
4 The Host by Stephanie Meyer (I adore the Twilight Saga too but the Host is seriously underrated, and since no one's reccommended it i feel an obligation to)
5 Bitter Chocolate (also sometimes titled The Jacaranda Tree) by Lesley Lokko*
* Without wanting to sound at all - seriously, AT ALL - patronising, these aren't suitable for younger readers (as in, under 15/16) as they have strong adult themes.
Series:
Harry Potter by JKR
The Tomorrow Series by John Marsden
Anythig by V.C. Andrews [well up until the De Beer series, after that they just become cheesy and 'happy']
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Pact by Jodi Picoult
The Perks Of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
The Perks Of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
Love both those books. A friend of mine went through a phase where she gave everyone she knew copies of Perks and when I got one I was like :\ but then I read it and it's SO GOOD.
I also picked up The Lovely Bones on the same friend's recommendation and let me tell you... I will never doubt that friend's suggestions. So good. I saw the movie two weeks ago and I really liked it too. The book is better, the movie has way more focus on the "in between" which is way trippier than I imagined... but it's a well done film.
I feel like adding a suggestion I've fallen in *love* with in the year and a half since I last posted here. It's a fairly simple, short book (just over 200 pages I think) that only took me about 3 hours to read the first time (I've read it like three times, I ADORE it) aimed at teens but it's SO GOOD.
Naomi & Ely's No-Kiss List by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn
They wrote Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, which is also really awesome (and I won't say better than, but different from, the movie. Some of the characters' relationships go way deeper. The book delves into Norah and Tris's love-hate friendship and it's really interesting). But No-Kiss List is just so, SO outstanding. It's not very long and keeps switching narrators (7 in total) but never in a confusing way, and it still manages to get you seriously emotionally invested in these people. Like at one point I was scared to keep reading because I was worried Naomi & Ely would never patch up their friendship. How screwed up is that? Such a cute story though, and so profoundly understanding that there is so much more to the spectrum of sexuality than just "gay" and "straight."
1. The Princess Diaries (ALL of them) ~ Meg Cabot - My faourite books of all time
2. How To Popular ~ Meg Cabot - I love Jason lol
3. The Twilight Saga ~ Stephenie Meyer - Umm... EDWARD?
